140 Tooth Driven Gear

I have been working on a stepper motor controller based on the MyFocuserPro for the autofusing of telescopes without having to go to the expense of the moonlite focusers (as much as I like them) and to also give auto focusing control to camera lenses when connected to the astro cameras.

When focusing the camera lenses it is possible to just loop the GT2 belt around the focuser ring but this always seemed a bit “slap dash” to me, risking the belt slipping, and that having a tooth gear attached to the ring would be a more secure, reliable approach.

I recently came across a Facebook post from some-one who obviously thought the same and he put me onto the following youtube tutorial for modelling GT2 toothed gears in Fusion 360.

Following this tutorial and then expanding to add the central bore and the grub screw attachments, I generated a model for a 140 tooth GT2 gear with 78mm central bore to suit the focus ring of my Samyang 135mm f2 manual lens.
