M20 – The Trifid Nebula

The Triffid Nebula
M20, known as the Triffid Nebula or alternatively NGC6154, is located in the constellation of Sagitarius and a distance of 5200ly. It’s name means “divided in three” due to the way the dust clouds appear to divide up the HII region located behind.
While primarily a HII emission nebula, M20 also contains a reflection nebula (blue region), a dark nebula (the dust lanes contributing to the name) and an open cluster.

Well, I am a bit peeved. The weather forecast for Jakarta was for mostly clear skies and this afternoon there were large patches of blue, so I set up the scope. Of course I was being overly optimistic 🙁 . Clouds, clouds and more clouds !!!
I did get one stretch where I could fire of some subs and this is the result.
