I am a little behind in uploading this one. This was from the night following the full moon at the end of August, 31/8/2015. I was wanting to get a higher resolution image so decided to do as a mosaic . The above image is comprised of 15 panels where each panel was created using the Canon 70D attached to the GSO 6″ RC with a 0.75x reducer.
The first attempt at imaging M57, The ring nebula on 18 Sep 2015. The opportunity was taken to image this when it appeared from between trees in the middle of doing the pointing model for EQMod. Given that it is listed as +8.8 apparent magnitude and was in the worst quadrant for LP, I was sceptical of being able to pick it up, but it actually came through the LP OK due to it’s compact size.
The first attempt at M27, The Dumbell Nebula, imaged on 17th July 2015
Widefield of the M8 and M20 region in Sagitarius taken with the ED80 and canon 70D imaged on 20th July 2015
The first attempt at imaging M8, the Lagoon Nebula
Taken on 20th June
The second attempt at M7, this time using the RC6
A second imaging attempt at Omega Centauri
When first setting up for the evening it is always easiest to start with the Moon if she is out 🙂
